cornmillsJohn Sturman Ltd is a traditional family owned, Black Country business which dates back to 1890.

In 1900 John Sturman had Victoria Corn Mills built, with all the lastest machinery of the time to produce animal feeds. Although some of them are now redundant, much of the old machinary remains today in this purpose built mill.

During the early years many employees jobs included, Chaff Cutting, Crushing Oats, Crushing Barley, Mixing and bagging feeds. A lot of this work was hard and very dusty with all of the feed bagged and carried in hundredweight (112 pounds) sacks, without the use of lifting machines we have today.

Sidney Hancox (my grandad) brought the business in 1945 on the understanding that it would still be known as ‘Sturmans’. So the name was kept and it was passed down to his son (Peter) in 1970 and then to me (Simon) in 2005.

We have now been trading for well over 100 Years, still offering an old fashioned one to one service with our customers.
